Weather & Climate

Due to its setting on the south-westerly coast of England, the climate of Torbay is especially mild all through the year and as a result of this, palm trees have become a familiar sight around Torquay and Paignton. During Victorian times, Torbay's sunny weather was considered a real tonic during colder periods in northern England, and this region soon became known as the English Riviera.

Torbay reliably experiences some of the longest days and highest sunlight hours per day than anywhere else in England and the United Kingdom. The winter climate may be mild, but prone to periods of wet weather, while the summers are usually hot, with temperatures in July and August regularly topping 25°C / 77°F and on occasion, reaching more than 30°C / 86°F.
